To visit

Did you know that the Ladin language is older than Italian? And that the only South Tyrolean saint was born in Alta Badia? Alta Badia has many curiosities to be told, most of which are collected and presented in Ciastel Tor in San Martino, a splendid castle hosting the Ladin Museum. You should also visit the "Viles", ancient settlements of farmers with preserved structures like the "Valley of Mills" with 30 restored water mills. Visit the birthplace of Saint Joseph Freinademetz and the Santa Croce Sanctuary, preferred destination of many pilgrims. The Santa Barbara Chapel in La Val and the remains of bears found in the Conturines caves at the visitor's centre of the Fanes Nature Park or the Lagazuoi tunnels, stage of World War I in the battles between Italians and Austrians.
